Faculty Spotlight

Name: Richard Grotjahn

Degrees: BS (1973), MS (1975), PhD (1979)

With LAWR since: 1982

Research Interests:
Extreme weather, Climate modeling, Subtropical highs, Atmospheric general circulation, and Atmospheric dynamics.

Favorite thing about LAWR: The friendly people.

Favorite thing about UC Davis:
If the question is about being a faculty person in general: the flexibility to travel and investigate interesting and important questions. If the question is specific to UC Davis in particular: the ability to tap into the diverse and extensive plant-related expertise on campus.

Favorite thing to do outside of work:
Doing various things with my daughters (cycling, hiking, playing games, helping them with their homework not! just kidding on that last one!). Growing plants of many types, but especially those with edible fruits or fine fragrance. Creating art (playing music, painting, photography). Travel to beautiful and exotic places. Climbing mountains for the rewards of the journey and the exercise.
