Interests:
Dr. Rebecca R. Hernandez is Associate Professor of Ecology and Earth System Science in the Department of Land, Air and Water Resources, Director of the Global Ecology Lab (http://GESLab.org) and Director of the Wild Energy Initiative (http://WildEnergy.org) at the University of California - Davis. Dr. Hernandez’s research focuses on three related themes: 1) energy and the environment, 2) global environmental change in aridlands, and 3) sustainability science. Specifically, she leads research on ecological aspects of energy systems, identifying their impacts and development options to support a sustainable, just transition from fossil fuels to mitigate climate change. She is a first-generation college graduate, proud graduate of the California community college system, and a first-generation Mexican-American.
